Salvatore Ferragamo at the Louvre

Yesterday, the Women’s Resort 2013 collection by Salvatore Ferragamo at the Louvre in Paris was received with great success.

In this spectacular location, hosting a fashion event for the first time ever, where six hundred celebrities from the international entertainment and fashion industry enjoyed and applauded beautiful pieces by the Italian label. To name just a few: Hilary Swank, Alain Delon, Ines SastreIsabella FerrariAlessandro PreziosiKarolina KurkovaCarmen and Dolores Chaplin. The label was guaranteed privileged access to the most famous museum in the world following its commitment to having “The Virgin and Child with St. Anne” restored, a work from the fifteen hundreds by Leonardo da Vinci.

Craftsmanship is the most important element of this collection, and you can truly see the great tailorship typical of Made in Italy, and appreciated around the world. On this very topic, many craftsmen from Emilia Romagna connected to the Florentine fashion house did not let themselves slow down with the events of the earthquake and, as creative director Massimiliano Giornetti himself said: “they even took any work home that couldn’t be finished at the factory. This Italian tenacity and willingness is our most important wealth“.

They propose very romantic pieces in soft and powdery colours, such as peach and dusty pink, bringing to mind memories of past eras. It is the come-back of sophisticated fashion, that quickly leaves the summer trends behind and makes room for the tradition of materials and processes, such as engraved leather and silver links in the fabrics. In addition to leather, with is the common theme of the outfits in the form of engravings, strings, plaits and stitching, not to mention delicate, hand-applied sequins, and a number of inserts and metal pendants.
