Sergio Rossi cruise collection 2013

Sergio Rossi presented the Cruise Collection for Spring Summer 2013.

A new and clever mix of sophisticated post-modern architecture and bright colours. The designer, Francesco Russo, current creative director of the brand, took inspiration from the Memphis Movement, which began in Milan in the ’80s under the guidance of Carlo Bugatti and Ettore Sottsass. This is what inspired the splendid geometric graphic elements that distinguish many of the Sergio Rossi shoes in this resort collection 2013. Shoes that could be sculptures, where the use of valuable and skilfully crafted materials is combined with a remarkable attention to style, including of playful contaminations which are nonetheless absolutely graceful.

The collection is dominated by the come-back of high heeled shoes, although there are always the flat versions as seen in the latest collections, sporting retro prints, which are very ’70s-’80s Hollywood, but also animal prints, and exceptional neon colours. We also see a lot of ethnic embroidery, with a dominant use of coloured crystals and micro leather braiding, on flats, sandals, as well as the irresistible boots. Sergio Rossi applies this take on style to basically all types of shoes, from wedges to ballet flats, with the use of great craftsmanship, as seen by the hammered-brass inserts.
