An exhibition at the Design Museum of London to celebrate Louboutin

May 1st was the inaugural day for the first English retrospective dedicated to designer Christian Louboutin. The Design Museum of London, the top museum in the world in terms of design, celebrated 20 years of the shoe label by displaying the masterpieces that made the brand famous.

Court shoessandals and boots which, thanks to the use of studs, crystals and very high heels led Louboutin to become the most famous and loved shoe brand by women around the world. This show dedicated to the great creative inventor of the “red sole” (to this regard we would like to mention that the case against Yves Saint Laurent is still on-going) guides us along a trip to discover his sources of inspiration, from film, circus and art, and then takes us to see how the shoe is made: techniques, prototyping, production, but also the concept and design of Louboutin stores.

The exhibition, that opens at the same time that the book by the same name “Christian Louboutin” (Rizzoli) comes out, with pictures by Philippe Garcia and David Lynch and a preface by John Malkovich, is on until July 9, 2012.
